MK March photo's...

Ooops!

Life in the Real World has been hectic...days and weeks passing by in the blink of an eye.

But finally I have a couple of photo's to share from the BIG MK Vintage and Handmade Fair last month.

I sold the suitcase of wonders, which was my 'thing', something that people recognised us by and attracted them to the stall.

This time I needed something new and carrying on from the case it had to be something from stock or home that I had 'done up'

The standard lamp stand is painted to go in my girls room and the shade had been stripped last year and had sat waiting for inspiration to strike!

Add a few JUMBO POM POMS, a trim of pom poms along with a dash of handmade tissue flowers {oh and a couple more pom poms!}

...and...

voila

One totally BONKERS display item!

If I could have had a £1 for every time someone told me how much they loved it or charged for its photo to be taken I could have retired merrily.

It did the trick!

We used the March show a chance to clear the stock that we had taken to more than one show, giving us a chance to start afresh with lots of lovely pieces this year.

That said we also took along a few new pieces, I never have been able to walk past something pretty and vintage
{despite telling myself that I wasn't buying for this show!}

As always I had a selection of Utility China with me, the work horse of any kitchen and the pastel colours are all over the magazines... still standing the test of time

I've a real soft spot for a Vintage Tin...they make for pretty and original craft storage
{my crochet hooks are stashed in some very cute tins}

Then we had the Vintage Kilner Jars that I've stashed in the loft for far too long!
Originally bought for my preserving, I've kept most but still had a lot that year after year I just haven't used so moved them on to stock.

Although I'm not using them I still find it hard to let go of some bits of stock...Linens fall into that group!

I sold 2 of my largest ones
*gulp*
deep breath
still excuse for me to re-stock!

A red suitcase that was a lucky find, it was 1971 and lined with a luxury satin lining

^can you see it peeking out the front there^

^crafty bits^

All in all we had an amazing weekend, lovely neighbours and super customers!

If you still haven't visited it I can't say it loud enough but you really should try to get there.
The prices are competitive, the assortment from tins to larger pieces of furniture and a selection of handmade goodness from cakes, pickles, jewellery and sewing from pillows to clothing!

It is inside the huge Milton Keynes shopping centre, dry whatever the weather, entry is totally free and there are hundreds of 'high street' shops to browse if you fancy as well as a selection of food stops from Jamie Olivers' to Burger King!

Fancy a...

good old rummage around?!

Yee Ha

Photo's!! My wonderfully organised sister {who manages not to let my children near her camera} managed to get a few photo's of the PriddyPriddy stall last weekend...

Ready?...

Well I managed to cram more stock than I ever thought possible into such a space, without it looking awful
{well I don't think it looks awful}

My daughter and niece took along a selection of stock {echoes + ink on facebook}
which was really well receieved, they sold a few bits and had lots of interest in commissions!!

See that  yellow blanket ^^^
I was so disappointed that it sold, but not in the least bit surprised!

I wanted to sing the 'Yellow Rose of Texas' every time I looked at it!

Twsa a lovely little vintage coverlet...

^^^the chair came home with me, now that DID surprise me!
It's not got a label but is has a date of May 1938 stamped on it...again not a great disappointment as it is a comfy little thing

My first sale of the day were these rather lovely filing drawers...

^^^the glasses sold this time, but the sugar shaker is still here?
seriously if it doesn't sell in November it WILL be coming home to me permanently....

Somehow this blue cabinet didn't sell at £25
 but the very pretty Barret Ware tin did go...

and sadly {well not sadly but you know what I mean} the lovely Ercol chair sold...
Lolly isn't too happy with me as she had her eye on it

Oh my lovely, lovely recovered suitcase...I took it along to display on and it had SO much interest

Just a few more bits....

I think I should keep the next set of Vintage Jelly Molds I find as they're getting harder and harder to get hold of in good condition
{or is that just in this area?}

more sugar tongs than you can shake a sugar cube at
{my favourites are the Lyons Tea house branded ones...how did they manage to sneak them out of the tea room?  Best not ask!}

How the light sparkles through crystal...casting rainbows all about!

and a few more...

I must stop picking up pretty tins and vinatge enamel, but I do lurve it so...

Despite the heat we had a great weekend, thank you to all who popped along for a natter
Looking forward to doing it all again in November!!

Vintage Suitcase...

Part 1

I picked this little beauty up at the last Vintage Fair...

Not sure whether to keep it as it was and use it or re-cover and either use or sell

It's taken a while to decide what fabric to use and just as long to find time to actually get crafty
{wet school holidays do not equal quality mama crafty time!}

So not able to wait for the big reveal...that might not happen for a couple of week yet if the weather continues to mock me

Here we have Part 1...the work in progress

It's been a lesson, the tute I found some time ago said to use the rotary cutter to tuck and trim, but that just wasn't working for me?  The Custards folded the sides under and that method is working for me

I blame Mollie Makes magazine {where I saw a lady who sells these online} and the tinternet {too many gorgeous blogs by very talented crafters},
show me a bit of gorgeousness and I feel the need to put my own stamp on a version

ETA
It was Ideal Home where I saw an article on a lovely lady who sells the suitcases
