Lots of fun, maybe a bit frivolous but all perfectly useful and handy!

By day it looks SO MUCH FUN, so pretty...

By night so calming and offers such a warm and toasty glow...

Super Cute Little Mini Lampshades, so much fun in one little bundle!...

{a few left in their original retro/vintage gorgeousness}

MK March photo's...

Ooops!

Life in the Real World has been hectic...days and weeks passing by in the blink of an eye.

But finally I have a couple of photo's to share from the BIG MK Vintage and Handmade Fair last month.

I sold the suitcase of wonders, which was my 'thing', something that people recognised us by and attracted them to the stall.

This time I needed something new and carrying on from the case it had to be something from stock or home that I had 'done up'

The standard lamp stand is painted to go in my girls room and the shade had been stripped last year and had sat waiting for inspiration to strike!

Add a few JUMBO POM POMS, a trim of pom poms along with a dash of handmade tissue flowers {oh and a couple more pom poms!}

...and...

voila

One totally BONKERS display item!

If I could have had a £1 for every time someone told me how much they loved it or charged for its photo to be taken I could have retired merrily.

It did the trick!

We used the March show a chance to clear the stock that we had taken to more than one show, giving us a chance to start afresh with lots of lovely pieces this year.

That said we also took along a few new pieces, I never have been able to walk past something pretty and vintage
{despite telling myself that I wasn't buying for this show!}

As always I had a selection of Utility China with me, the work horse of any kitchen and the pastel colours are all over the magazines... still standing the test of time

I've a real soft spot for a Vintage Tin...they make for pretty and original craft storage
{my crochet hooks are stashed in some very cute tins}

Then we had the Vintage Kilner Jars that I've stashed in the loft for far too long!
Originally bought for my preserving, I've kept most but still had a lot that year after year I just haven't used so moved them on to stock.

Although I'm not using them I still find it hard to let go of some bits of stock...Linens fall into that group!

I sold 2 of my largest ones
*gulp*
deep breath
still excuse for me to re-stock!

A red suitcase that was a lucky find, it was 1971 and lined with a luxury satin lining
B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L

^can you see it peeking out the front there^

^crafty bits^

All in all we had an amazing weekend, lovely neighbours and super customers!

If you still haven't visited it I can't say it loud enough but you really should try to get there.
The prices are competitive, the assortment from tins to larger pieces of furniture and a selection of handmade goodness from cakes, pickles, jewellery and sewing from pillows to clothing!

It is inside the huge Milton Keynes shopping centre, dry whatever the weather, entry is totally free and there are hundreds of 'high street' shops to browse if you fancy as well as a selection of food stops from Jamie Olivers' to Burger King!

MK Handmade and Vintage June 2013...

Did I forget to show and tell?

Oh my...I am so sorry!

So where do I start?  I wont show you the set up photo's as they just show me looking rougher than nails as I try to set up what is a mini shop in just a couple of hours.

So where and what would you like to see?

Well this was us on the first day, right outside John Lewis...just in case you want to pop by and say hi hey de ho in September.

The display cabinets look pretty non?

Now what is that in the suitcase of wonders I wonder?

Not one but a bakers dozen did we take to the show...

This may just be my favourite...

Love the art deco styling ^^^

Displaying them in the suitcase was perfect, easy for everyone to take a look at and it showed them off nicely

Both of the lampshades came home...which was a surprise but then it wasn't either.
I think they're very reasonably priced  £35 for the Amy Butler fabric one and £45 for the Frilly Frou Frou Knicker one.
The Frilly Frou Frou is currently lighting my lounge as I tap, tap, tap on the net-pad.

Im not too sure what this would have been originally, it is sturdy enough to be a stool to sit on and perfect size to hold a cuppa tea or Pimms?

Another pretty little sewing box...

Lots of lovely glass ware...

Just a snippet of the selection we took

A vintage suitcase full of tins and enamel ware...

I love, love, love Midwinter...

And finally...

4 trios, milk, sugar pot and cake/sandwich plate

We may not have the most curated, display perfect stall but we do have a diverse selection...a little bit of something for everyone!

A Peek at Progress...

The 'easier' cabinet is finished!!
Yay!
The light has been so poor though that I haven't taken a photo without all the masking tape but I did want to give you a sneaky peek.

I've injected a splash of pastel colour and it works so very well...

I've left it un-waxed so it can be painted over if someone isn't keen on it {although I don't see how you can't like it!}

It looks very pretty, the glass has cleaned up beautifully and the two internal shelves are in perfect condition.

I'll be taking Priddy Priddy to the Beaconsfield Vintage, Retro and Craft Fair tomorrow and will try to get a couple of photos on Sunday {fingers crossed for a spot of sun!}...
and will be taking this with me next weekend to the BIG MK Handmade and Vintage Extravaganza!

Looking forward...

It's a bit early,
but,
in my mind the countdown is starting this coming week...

ALWAYS a HUGE turnout of stalls
{there really are 120 stalls here!}
Hand-made & Vintage hand in hand.
I manage to find something for myself at EVERY show...usually a tin or a piece of crockery.

Worth the trip out if you live a while away...the shopping centre is HUGE, there are all the usual High Street shops there as well as the show.
All under cover, lots of lovely eateries {Valeries Patisserie!}

I 'think' there if something for everyone

The best of...

MK Handmade and Vintage
Priddy Priddy
Vintage & Inspired

We had the absolutely BEST of times over the weekend!!

Where to start?
Photos?
Come on then...

There was a last minute cancellation of the stall behind us and the event organiser {very kindly} let us have use of it, so this time around we had a double fronted stall!

The back of the stall

The front of the stall

And a few of my own favourite pieces...

Who hasn't got a soft spot for a few Vintage Linens?

This surprisingly came home with me, it is uber comfy.
I had one very similar when I was a kiddo, same colour but mine didn't have the gap in the sides.

Large hamper also came home with us, but is heading out to the Beaconsfield Vintage Fair with me on the 23rd March!

These 2 lovely bedside cabinets went a lovely lady with the most well behaved little lad!  He was too cute with a gap tooth cheeky smile.
They are 'This is Lebus Furniture' and were quite a find to get a pair together with very little needing doing to them apart from a lick of paint.  Original handles....teeny tiny cute-ness.

Both the bureau and mirror came home and are being re-homed here!

Jelly moulds and cake domes....always a firm favourite with our elderly customers who we are lucky to have a chat with about days gone by.

Vintage Mirrors...

A couple of the ones we took with us; set on solid teak back boards they were certainly made to last and I swear the glass gives a nicer reflection?  Maybe it's the process used back then to make them or just the ageing process on them?!

I absolutely love these little ceramic spoons!
They really finish of a gift of home-made jam and our kiddos use them to hoick the marshmallows out of their hot-chocolates!

We were so busy I didn't get a chance to take photo's after our initial set up.
After almost 100 customers on the Saturday, we were a bit worried we wouldn't have enough left for the Sunday; but a bit of re-jigging and hey presto we were ready to go!

We came home seriously empty, which is the perfect excuse for a spot of bargain hunting, which then gives me the reason to get the paints out!
Seriously I ABSOLUTELY LOVE what I do

I managed a quick scoot around the stalls and picked myself up a lovely large enamel tea pot, even bigger than the last one! {HUGE}

A couple of little tins came home ready to get a good clean and go onto Etsy.
Already photographed, they are extremely sweet...
