Teasing...

As I've got no photo's to show you {yet}

the pink mirror is now a version of pinky/white.
A brush on, wipe off, flick with the brush again gave it a very pleasing result...
...and is now getting harder and harder to part with this!

Also the prettiest Vintage Singer sewing machine, dating from around the 1930's with the prettiest engraving on a couple of panels, honestly it really is genuinely priddy...

and to round it off a sweet vintage bevel edged, frame-less mirror

*sigh*

this is what a good day feels like
if we get a sunny patch I promise to show you what it looks like

Think Pink...

I love Blue, there I've said it...
Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue!

Pink
is not my default colour

and Im finding it very hard to think this is the best color for this lovely frame;
mainly as it will be coming along to the Vintage Fair in March and I don't want to narrow my buyers market.

The Pink I've used is in actual fact a mix of Henrietta & Original
{not Antoinette}
Henrietta is quite a bluey pink
{probably what drew me to it in the first place}

In fairness the light today is poor, think heavy snowy clouds lack of light poor
In one room with lack of natural light it looks like this

and in the other with big patio doors and lots of natural light it looks a bit like this

The true colour is somewhere between the two!

I think for re-sale purposes it will get painted Original or possibly Pure {both Annie Sloan}
Safe to say that this isn't the final colour

Off to the glaziers this week to see how much it would cost to make it into a mirror...

Golden...

Photo's again....
it's like I'm just plain showing off now!

I almost passed this by today, the damage in the corners put me off a bit.,
but after doing a couple of walk bys' it still kept my interest so...

I bought it home with me
I am so Happy that I did!
It looks so much nicer in the flesh than the photos show

It's not looking like this now though...

Spot the damaged corners?

They are hardly recognizable now

I've given it a good clean, a lot of this is grubbiness

It is now sat with a lovely dusky pink coat on!

Anyone who knows me will know that PINK is NOT my colour...but I have been heavily influenced in the choice for this by 3 things;
Shingle Cottage Blog and her love of all things pink and girlie
What paint I have in the cupboard {I've used a mix of Antoinette and Original - Annie Sloan}
and finally by just how pretty the frame actually is

I don't think it will stay pink, I'm pretty sure it will get a wash of Original so just a glimpse of pink peeks through...or it may go Original and get a distressing with dark wax?
Decisions, decisions

I also picked up a lovely Granny Mirror, set on an Oak board.  I prefer my Granny Mirrors to be frame less and with a bevelled edge so I'm thinking this will get a painting and also go into stock
and
a large pine framed mirror, which is definitely getting a coat of paint before coming along to

A show and tell Ta-Da...

Finally...a break in the clouds and a chance to snap a couple of photo's

Sadly this is what Im most excited about
my rescued bike/shopping basket...
I LOVE the colour

Simple things and simple minds

This is the first time I've put the lampshade onto a base and Im surprised by how much I like it!
I'll explain...I thought it would be too high up on the stand, but although it is high with a 2" trim at the bottom I think it will work

I mentioned before that I had sprayed a couple of other bits...
Im planning a turquoise, red and white Christmas next year and sprayed the hearts to fit

And I have plans afoot for these...

The tutorial that I vaguely followed for the lampshade recover can be found over at Shingle Cottage Blog, as can lots of inspiring photos of very pretty pink things!

Sewing, Painting and Day Dreaming...

I hadn't even realised that I'd been such a busy bee!  Just having a spot of fun.
The standard lampshade is almost finished...all sewn up on the frame before Christmas but it really does need a nice bit of trim to finish it.  I'm thinking long and fancy but haven't really put any effort or thought into it over Christmas.

I've picked another lampshade up and am just waiting to clear the post Christmas fuzz to see if I have a spot of fabric to try the 'glue on' method {ala Granny Chic}  I'd like a nice Liberty one perhaps?  Liberty Lawn patchwork type of thing?  Or maybe a nice retro vintage 1970's styled one? Will just have to see what I have  or what I find in the charity shops...
All that said it's in really good condition {although a bit too 1980's for me} and so far it's been a 50/50 split as to whether I leave it as it is or give it a face lift {Im definatley in the face lift camp}

Recently I rescued quite literally from a bin a very old, tatty bike basket.  It was once white but was looking really quite sad by the time I found it, the white 'plastic' was just falling off of it and rust had started to form.  I think it would be fair to say that everyone had thought I'd lost the plot when it appeared at home, dropping white plastic bits in its trail!
A short time later though, a thorough scraping with the Stanley blade and a rub with sandpaper...hey what do you know it was looking a lot happier.
For a while I've had a hankering for a good old fashioned wire shopping basket, the idea being to store my yarns but in truth I must have seen a photo of one somewhere...
Roll on the next day and the perfect tin of turquoise paint was found
Oh I haven't had that much fun with a can of paint for yonks!
The basket is looking fan-dabby-dosie and...well I could't help myself, I sprayed a couple of other bits that didn't move fast enough to avoid the paint.

No progress on my bike...plans as always but finally I think I have convinced my eldest son to strip it down so I can paint it.  The offer of a small payment has I think helped in this turnaround of his interest!

There are 'things' to paint ready for the Priddy Priddy stall in March but it's been too cold or wet to crack on  with most of them.

So once again Im lacking in photos...but in fairness the light has been dire, today was the first sunny day for what has been over a week.

I've listed individual School Milk Bottles on Etsy today, 1/3 pint ones, just like I used to have at school...

I fully intend to grace mine with Pimms this summer...roll on summer!

Fingers crossed for a few days of sunny weather so I can take a few photo's that don't look like we live an underground bunker
